Holidays again
Hey everyone,
Just wishing everyone the best for the school holidays and the Easter break. Hope you all have a good break and stay safe. For us it's a busy time of the year with 3 birthdays and usually lots of visitors which stresses Kyle out, but for the rest of the family it's a time we enjoy.
Things have been insanely stressful here so it will be nice to have some celebration. Kyle is not handling school so well this year and his peers are also seeing him as 'different' and it's not always easy. Ah the school scene, such a joy, with all the social going on. At least he's starting to get some of it out of his system at school and not bringing it all home.
Anyhow that's all from here.
Take care everyone, strength to you all and I'll hopefully get to another get together after the holidays.

Respite Weekend
To our wonderful Deb,
A huge thank you for the fantastic respite weekend you arranged for us at the Margarets Resort.
I thoroughly enjoyed the break, & most importantly the wonderul company. A fantastic time I'm absolutely certain was had by all.
I look forward to catching up with all the members of this awsome group at our next gathering.
All the very best to you all xx

Christmas and Holidays
Hi There,
Well for those who were at Palandris and wished me all the best for our big family Christmas do, it went well except for Kyle being totally at home. To put it plainly and in the words of one of the family members," you've explained a lot to us but we never knew it was like this." Yes we had meltdowns (a number of them), aggression, impatience, banging and the great honest comments. Well at least the family are no longer unaware what Autism means to our family and for that we are quite glad.
As for the family time, we did have a good weekend, I had enough food, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed it.
The rest of the holiday season has been quite tiring with Kyle challenging through-out the day. It was only yesterday that we had a 'peaceful' day with the kids in the pool all day and Kyle happy. I look forward to swimming lessons at the beach next week because that is my holiday where the kids are soooo happy. Kyle loves the beach, the exploring in the rocks and no pressure on him, then by night the kids are so tired, they fall into bed on time leaving me to enjoy my night with Troy.
Hoping all your holidays are going well and everyone has had a safe holiday. Happy New Year to everyone as well.
Regards
Elaine

HELLOOOooooooooo
Ok, so where has this year gone??? We haven't got together since the end of September....and I know its because we are all frantic just getting through our busy lives....time to take a breather and have a cuppa I reckon!!!!
Tuesday 14th December - lets say mid-late morning for a cuppa or early lunch??
We wont lock in a venue yet, lets see who is comming and will try and make it as central as possible for everyone. I'm leaning towards Margaret River way....so Bec, Erin, Elaine & Miranda can have a rest from driving to Busselton. Also, there is a new lady down there I'd love to meet.
It would have been nice to have a family thingie for Christmas, but I imagine everyone is pulled in many directions through to the end of the year, so perhaps we could plan a 'New-years' get together with the kids & fellas during the January holidays.....when things quieten down a little!!
Take care all, please email me if you can make it on Tuesday 14th.

Parent hood
Hi everyone,it's been a while, hope everyone is going okay. Been meaning to post for a few weeks now because I've got stuck on watching parenthood on GWN on Tuesday nights, late but I get sucked in everytime. There is a couple with an Autistic boy and it is very interesting to watch how the parents are dealing with it and family. I know it's a TV show but the producers must have done their homework because it is so close to home including the reactions received.
For the rest, we at home are having a good number of weeks and enjoying a beautiful boy, who even had a good muck around with my husband without getting upset at any stage. It was just hard work getting Kyle to end it.☺We haven't seen this amount of humour for ages and it just made our day.
Kyle is doing guitar lessons and loving it and he has even taken to playing the guitar to calm down which was our whole idea behind it, not that we told him that. It is definantly worth it and Kyle is doing really well too.
Well that's us at the moment,
take care everyone,
Elaine
